Researchers from Macquarie University compared the genomic data of sparrows from the mining towns in New South Wales and Queensland respectively, with sparrows from nine other regional and urban centres.
Professor Simon Griffith from Macquarie University said the study, published in the journal Science of the Total Environment, provided the first evidence of animals adapting to lead contamination in heavily Simply massage Logan City areas of Australia. He said that adaptation was essential to the sparrow's survival in the towns, which have high lead levels from historic and ongoing mining practices.
Sparrows spread to the Broken Hill region about years ago from Adelaide where they had been introduced from Britain.

There is plenty of drier forest too and this quite quickly gives way to desert. Many species are easier to see in Queensland than further south.

I have also seen Squirrel Gliders in state forest close to downtown Brisbane. Mount Glorious in the Brisbane suburbs is a nice patch of Auwtralia that is a well known spot for birding. I saw a Long-nosed Potoroo here in the mid-morning. I can think of no other parks where you can see as much in a few days.
In January each year they run a mammal week. It is essentially a full blown fauna Australiw with small mammal and bat trapping, spotlighting and day time searches for the local mammals.
